Accessibility, a meeting of cultures

All our venues are accessible and inclusive

The engagement of people with disability is deeply embedded in the project's rationale and in the vision of RealArtWorks Inc as a post-disability arts company. We create projects with artists using the lens of disability as a creative tool to 'flip switches' in everybody’s minds, both artists and audience. Post-disability means that we actively engage artists with and without disability and collectively we overcome the barriers that we face in order to create great art. More than half of our members and our Board are people who identify as experiencing disability. Artists experiencing disability are written into the project in a variety of roles including: - lead artists: Invitation, artists experiencing disability are invited to participate a paid - emerging artist: emerging artists with disability are included thought invitation and EOI process to engage with lead artists in a paid role - participants: Workshops occur inviting participants through experiencing disability from a process of information sessions marketed through arts partners networks and social and mainstream print, news and radio media - audience: The (un)Usual will ensure as much as possible, that accessibility occurs on all levels, including marketing, and physical and sensory accessibility including braille and Auslan marketing material and support during events.
